I started DGMD 9 Photography class in the Fall of 2020. I had just taken DGMD S-35 Video Editing course and wanted to improve my filming skills. I thought learning the fundamentals of photography would help me become a better videographer.  Taking photographs and videos are very different- photography enables one to capture a moment in time and create effects that are not possible with video, which captures the moments before and after. I learned this from the dancers in Denis Darzacq's series "Hyper" and Harold ‘Doc’ Edgerton's photography, which we covered in Lecture 4: Shutter Speed and Motion.
As a native Californian, I am enjoying the four seasons in Cambridge, MA. I work at Harvard University Mail Services and just applied to Harvard Extension School to be admitted as an undergraduate degree student majoring in Math and minoring in Computer Science.
The skills I learned in this course have helped me and my boyfriend with our eBay store.  Since I bought backdrops and lights, I have set up a photo studio for the clothes that we sell on eBay.
The techniques I learned will be a lifelong skill that can be applied not only to selling items but also for selling real estate, as I am working on getting my Massachusetts Real Estate Salesperson license. I will also use photography for trips, special events, and even the mundane, which we learned about in class (Eggleston).
I enjoy snowboarding, swimming, and playing the piano. Hopefully I will get out to the mountains a lot more this winter!
A special thanks to my boyfriend Damian for letting me use his toys and figurines and camera, and for being great subject matter both for this class and for my videography course. You can view his eBay store here.

Update 4/2/2021: I have been admitted to Harvard Extension School
