Reflection:
This assignment was the most challenging assignment we have had so far. I would have liked to go further to find a flat ocean horizon for example but the horizon off my balcony had to suffice. I did walk to the bridge near Harvard to take pictures of the horizon off the river but it also was not a flat horizon.
I also had a hard time with the principle of symmetry-- there were a myriad of buildings that displayed symmetry but like Leonie said, there's a fine line between balanced and boring and I thought that would have been too obvious. However, a building is what I settled with and even though it is just a picture of a building, the Harvard Business school campus is beautiful. I work in Harvard Mail Services so my friend was working around Harvard Business School campus on Friday and sent me pictures during the snowstorm and it looked gorgeous with the freshly fallen snow.
I would have liked to capture freshly fallen snow, the first snow of the year the day after the snow fell but the only picture I caught of the snow was from my balcony the morning after. Now the snow has melted and become dirty slush.
I found that there were a couple pictures that I could use for either foreground or background or rule of thirds for example. It was also easier to find pictures to fill the frame and for viewpoint as well. I did not find any opportunities for isolation the first day I took pictures but the next day I found an opportunity a couple of blocks from where I live.
